Intolerance

As I get older, I become intolerant. Of people, things, but mostly people.

I am continually amazed at people who try to call themselves poets by writing 'poems' which are decidedly not poems. In other words, the subject of the poem has nothing poetical. The first objection comes: 'a poem can be about anything ... ' usually in an irate tone. Sure, a poem can be about anything but the subject needs to be something poetical and not something merely ironical, political, or any one of the other dull forms of subjects mistakenly put into poems.
